The Purangi Winery was established in 1985 the 37th Winery in New Zealand. The Evans Family who moved from Hong Kong were welcomed as settlers by the district in 1966. After buying land from the Harsant and Wigmore Families and opening and operating the Hahei store and later in 1972 the 60 acres where the winery is located was farmed running pigs, cows, sheep and goats, then planted supplying the Auction Markets with table grapes, kiwifruit, garlic and fresh produce. When the land was cleared originally organic principles were adopted. Our products are made in the traditional manner with purest ingredients hence the company name Purangi Estate Ltd or “PurEst”.
Koha Wine tasting: 10:30am - 5:30pm
2008/09 we built a wood fired pizza oven and launched the Purangi Winery Pizzeria which has been more and more popular. We produce many of the ingredients for the pizzas, making the pesto and pizza sauce and using a wide range of fresh herbs and vegetables from our garden.
We try to keep it simple and have something for everyone. We customize our pizzas so that YOU want to eat it.

Our bar in the Coromandel invites you to enjoy all our homemade products: Cider, Wines, Long Drinks and (in winter) Mulled Wine as well as a wide range of national and international beers. Relax in our family friendly environment under the kiwifruit vines, enjoy the sun in summer, sit next to our brazier in winter or find a cosy place inside close to our potbelly stove.

The WINECELLAR in St Kevin’s Arcade in K’Road, Auckland was started in 2004 and is now our popular city bar and music venue. So enjoy our Cider, Wine and Liqueurs in the big city.
