![]() | Visiting groups often arrange a Purangi River Cruise up to the Winery from the sea at Cook's Bay and retrace the exploration of this idyllic spot by Capt. James Cook and Sir Joseph Banks and their party in November 1769. The launch runs from the spot HMS Endeavour was moored past the site of the first raising, with the consent of the local chiefs, of the British Colours in Australasia and on past 'Oyster Brook' through the mangal to the 'Top Landing' on Purangi Estate. Tea
Research Project undertaken with the support of the Thames Valley Coromandel Business Development Board with the intention of investigating the possibility of new agricultural products for the District. We hope to create a database on the propagation, cultivation and manufacture of teas and coffee in New Zealand conditions with the intention that this information with be available for distribution via the internet via this page. The development of a process that for the first time preserves Manuka leaf for use as an infusion allowing it's use world wide is a result of the Purangi Estate Research and Development Program.
